A whole lotta God, love, and a true unconventional path is the summary of our crazy beautiful story!
We met in 2020 when the world was anything but normal.
Taylor had just moved to Franklin TN, from Austin TX, and Robert was living in Boone, NC.... the two are 6 hours apart on a good day (we have both experienced our fair share of lovely Knoxville traffic).
Robert was invited to a wedding in Mississippi of a former player and had to drive through the Nashville area. We are so appreciative of Dustin Kerns for encouraging him to go to that wedding!!
God orchestrated a way for us to meet via social media on his way through Nashville. The phone calls turned into facetimes which led to meeting each other in person for the first time in Nashville. Taylor knew Robert was a good one when he loved on 100 pound Bennett right away :)
In true Robert fashion, he came prepared with many different restaurant reservations and printed off menus for me to choose from. In true Taylor fashion, she chose a very nice steak house and ordered a burger. Our first date also included a visit with one of Robert's former players and his wife who happened to live in Nashville, a drive to Leiper's Fork that included swaying in the old rocking chairs and a lot of wonderful conversation. That weekend really set the stage for God's plans for our relationship; sharing our lives with amazing people, exploring what the world has to offer, and letting the world slow down to pour into each other.
We dated long distance for 2.5 years. The drives were long, the sacrifices were many, but the time spent together was so worth it. Our support systems were incredible during this time, and we will be forever thankful to you all.
Taylor moved to Boone in April of 2023. In the same place finally, our relationship has continued to grow in many ways. We got engaged in Boston on August 11, 2023. It was the trip of a lifetime to celebrate one of the sweetest moments that we will ever share together!
Living in the High Country and being a part of Appalachian State University has truly blessed us beyond measure. We are so thankful to be able to do this life together each day and we do not take that for granted! Love, community, sacrifice, selflessness, and servanthood are how we would describe this union that God has created. Thank you to each of you for being a significant part of that. We love you and are so grateful for you!!
